The book features true stories of appreciation such as:
- “The Heroism of the American Entrepreneur” by Merrilee Johnson expressing the remebrance of the valor, fortitude and courage of the “American Entrepreneuers” who contribute to the advancement of our country.
- “The Hero Within” by Linda Distler who writes about overcoming personal struggles surrounding divorce, disease and separation and how that creates the hero within you.
- “What Did He See?” by Joyce Heiser who is thankful for the seventh grade teacher that exploited her leadership potential and shaped her into a successful woman of confidence.
Loyd’s contribution to the book centers around a personal sacrifice her husband made when they were both diagnosed with cancer in 2008.
“When presented with the opportunity to participate in this project about personal heroes, I immediately thought about my husband, George, and something he had done a few years ago that I consider courageous. He placed himself at risk for me in a way most people wouldn’t think to do. I didn’t realize what he was thinking at the time or the full meaning of his decision until later, but when I did, it had a profound impact on me,” said Loyd.
The eBook is FREE to anyone who wants to download it from http://TheGratitudeBookProject.com

THE GRATITUDE BOOK PROJECT: CELEBRATING MOMS AND MOTHERHOOD is a collection of heart-warming stories and essays from people all around the world sharing the love and appreciation, the funny and the poignant insights, of moms and motherhood.
Peg Roach Loyd, writer, singer and songwriter, is a co-author in The Gratitude Book Project: Celebrating Moms and Motherhood, a collaborative book sold on Amazon.com, featuring more than 185 authors sharing their love and appreciation for the important women in their lives.
The book features true stories of appreciation such as:
Loyd’s contribution to the book entitled, “The Greatest Generation,” (p. 38) is a special tribute to her Mom, Mary, in celebration of her 90th birthday this year. With a life spanning nine decades, Loyd’s mother has witnessed nearly a century of our nation’s history and the tragedies and triumphs that challenged her in her own life.
“When I heard about the book, I immediately thought it would be a wonderful way to express my gratitude for my Mom and recognize her for the important role she has played in my life,” Loyd said. “We lost my father to cancer when I was 13 and my Mom really had to step up and take on sole responsibility for getting us through the emotional sorrow and loss, while at the same time, go back to work to keep us afloat financially. She had to have had great faith, inner strength and courage to do that.”
In keeping with the spirit of the project, net proceeds from national book sales will go to Women for Women International, “changing the world, one woman at a time” by providing education and resources to less fortunate women. (WomenForWomen.org)
“One of the reasons I decided to participate in this project was because the proceeds are going to charity,” Loyd said. “It is a way to do something special for my Mom and at the same time help other women around the world who are facing similar, if not far greater, challenges.”
